Cutting DCF: Right-sizing or wrong-headed?

Getting the children that show up at Mashal Ebadi's office for counseling the services they require is a challenge.

"DCF, they're spread too thin. They can't deal with the amount of need that's here," the tearful guidance counselor at Hartford Public High School told members of the Governor's Youth and Urban Violence Commission earlier this month.

Weston’s Kiwanis Club gives grant to Child Advocates

Child Advocates of SW Connecticut (CAC), a local non-profit organization has received a grant of $6,250 grant from The Kiwanis Club of Weston Foundation.

The grant supports Child Advocates of SW Connecticut’s Older Youth Pilot Program to provide volunteer advocacy for older youth ages 18 to 21 in state care.
