New Canaan Patch - A Guardian Ad Litem provides personal attention to children during the court process of finding them a healthy and nurturing home.

President Obama proclaimed April as National Child Abuse Prevention Month, calling upon all Americans to observe this month with programs and activities that help prevent child abuse and provide for children's physical, emotional, and developmental needs.

Abused and neglected children in southwestern CT now have another voice in their corner as they make their way through the court system, this month and every month of the year.

Jean McKeever becomes a state guardian ad litem

The Ridgefield Press - Ridgefield resident Jean McKeever was sworn in as a guardian ad litem in Danbury Superior Court on Wednesday, Feb. 9, by the Honorable Mary E. Sommer, after completing 35 hours of training by Child Advocates of Connecticut.

Child Advocates of Connecticut supports children in juvenile protection proceedings to secure a safe, permanent and nurturing home. It serves children from a variety of socio-economic backgrounds who have been abused or neglected. Many of them are placed in safe homes or treatment facilities and are given consistent adult attention.

For child advocacy program: Ashton is now a guardian ad litem

The Redding Pilot - Redding resident Lauren Ashton wanted to do something with her life to help others. Now, she hopes her latest endeavor to assist children in need makes a difference.

Ms. Ashton was recently sworn in as a volunteer guardian ad litem with Connecticut Advocates of Connecticut by Judge Mary E. Sommers in Danbury Superior Court on Feb. 9.
