About our work

How we do it
Our staff mobilizes and supports a diverse group of community volunteers to speak up for abused and neglected children, both in and out of court.

Experience is not required, but insight, dedication and judgment are essential.

"The impact that Child Advocates of CT volunteers make on the lives of children can make all the difference. It is sometimes hard and frustrating - but always worth it."
Bob N. - Volunteer since 2000

What we do

Child Advocates of Connecticut (CAC) works in collaboration with judges, attorneys, social workers, schools and health providers to ensure the well being of each child until a safe, permanent home is found.

CAC Volunteers are:

  • Advocates for a child's best interest.
  • Specially trained by our staff and court appointed to one case at a time.
  • Working on average 10 hours per month.
  • Involved in exploring all aspects of a child's life including:

  • Part of a team creating recommendations to assist the Court in making informed decisions.
